Over 40 years of living hell and death of countless children. When will it stop.
People bring shame on the human race. In the 1960’s in Asia in the Mekong High lands and through what used to be Indochina, jungle tribal children were being displaced by fighting over drug territory and wide spread logging. These innocent stateless children had no where to go and no one to turn to for help. Some how the goals set by developed countries for schools for the Akha children were forgotten, with the money stuck in the pipeline. With the introduction of tourist 747 jet travel a massive demand for pleaser and profit using the beautiful and vulnerable children was created. They were easy pickings for sex tours from Western and Asian countries. As the demand grew, hundreds of children were hunted, captured and trafficked into prisons that they could only escape from when they contracted HIV/AID’s.
Some went quietly excepting their fate, the best they could with tears streaming down their face. Some fought hard kicking screaming and begging for mercy, knowing it was a death sentence and that they would never see their Mum & Dad again. Some fathers fought all alone for their daughters freedom and liberty and were killed. Laws and rights of a child didn’t seem to apply to these children. One brothel in Jahorbaru was raided by police, the law enforcement from four countries were involved, Thailand, USA, Malaysia and Singapore. Not one person was charged, and 3 of 200 Akha Tribal children were returned to their homes in the Highlands of Thailand. One of the biggest hinderances in this fight for children is that the tribal people have never been able to cry out for help. They speak a different language and have no script. Today; Things are changing. Akha people that have seen and experienced the horror of trafficking of children, are asking for help before innocent lives are shattered and not after a crime has been committed. Children of the Golden Triangle Inc. a registered charity in Australia & USA with specific objectives to help tribal children are supporting an extremely successful work called the Akha Training Centre that is run by Akha people for Akha children. Children of the Golden Triangle non profit, does not take any administration costs from Sponsorship. The Akha people at the Akha Trianing Centre are volunteers and are working as a community to protect educate & train any Akha child that is vulnerable, through poverty, or the loss of one or two parents, or no access to school, or a sick parents. The board of Children of the Golden Triangle charity have great respect and honor for the tribal people that have risen up against the danger and overwhelming odds and give 100% support for the rescue mission of tribal children. |
